MINISTRIES: MUSIC Music is a vital and important part of Liturgy. Through music, we focus on a commitment to foster a feeling of understanding by recognizing each other’s individual personality as well as the common bonds we share in our faith. We strive to deepen our understanding of God, values of kindness, helpfulness, personal responsibility and respect for others; qualities we know to be essential in leading spiritually, emotionally and physically healthy lives.

LITURGICAL MUSICIANS Anyone who loves to sing is encouraged to participate in this ministry. The ability to read music is not necessary. The Adult Choir sings Mass on Christmas Eve, Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Vigil. Rehearsals take place once each week for approximately 6-8 weeks before the holiday and last two hours. Men and women who enjoy an upbeat, energetic, creative way to minister to their church family are encouraged to join. The contemporary ensemble is composed of musicians and vocalists who are in grades seven and above. The music is upbeat and energetic. Rehearsals for musicians are held each week for one hour. Vocalists rehearse for one hour every other week. The ensemble plays the 5:00 Mass on Sunday evenings at least once each month. We welcome those who love the music of the church, arranged with a contemporary sound and who can lead others in song. We will include instruments such as piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, drums, percussion, and voices. The Children's Choir is geared toward children who are in grades three through six. Members are encouraged to discover and nurture their faith and relationship with God through song. Rehearsals are held for one hour each week. We follow the Religious Education calendar. If there are no classes, there will be no rehearsal. In addition, the Children's Choir sings one Mass each month. All boys and girls in grades three through six, who would like to serve God through song, are welcome. Cantor's proclaim the Word of God musically. A cantor is not a performer but rather a leader of song engaging the congregation to praise and worship through music. No formal training is necessary. It is not necessary to be able to read music, although, it is helpful. Anyone interested should have a good, strong voice that projects well and should feel comfortable singing in front of large groups. Cantor's are scheduled in accordance with their Mass preference. Training and support are offered. The frequency with which you would be scheduled to sing depends upon how many people are involved. Become a vital part of music ministry by sharing your musical time and talent with your faith community. Musicians are needed for all weekend Masses as well as Mass celebrated on Holy Days of obligation, holidays and other observances and are scheduled according to their Mass preference. The frequency with which you would be scheduled to play depends upon how many musicians are taking part in this ministry. There is a small stipend available for musicians playing at Liturgy.
